Dr Nicholas Pappas has commenced a five-year tenure as board chair for the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).
A former non-executive director of the SBS board, Pappas brings experience and a diverse skillset from his work across commercial law, corporate governance, and community leadership.
Pappas was recognised in 2013 for his services to the arts, rugby league, and the Greek Australian community with his appointment to the General Division of the Order of Australia.
Minister for Communications Anika Wells said Pappas was chosen on the recommendation of an independent nomination panel.
