CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – A former Swedish and United Nations diplomat will be part of a virtual conversation at SIU Carbondale this Friday.
According to the university, Eliasson will discuss the American and Israeli attack on Iran and the growing conflict in the Middle East with the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on March 13 at 11 a.m.
He will also offer his assessment of American policy and the conflict alongside Institute director John Shaw.
According to the university, Eliasson was a career Swedish diplomat who served as an advisor to the prime minister, his nation’s ambassador to the United Nations, ambassador to the United States, deputy foreign minister and foreign minister.
Additionally, Eliasson held more high-level UN positions than anyone else in the organization’s history.
