Europe continues to invest resources in the space sector as a strategic driver for economic development and the continent’s international competitiveness. The main European funding instrument supporting research, innovation, and development in this specific field is the Cluster 4 ‘Digital, Industry and Space’ of Horizon Europe (with its 2026-27 thematic work programme).

To enhance the Space sector, a new EU call will open tomorrow, March 10, to support projects across the entire value chain of the space economy, from upstream—such as strengthening European spaceports and developing critical satellite components—to downstream, including satellite telecommunications services, Earth observation, and scientific analysis of space data.

Horizon Europe: What Does the SPACE 2026 Call Offer?

As part of the broader Cluster 4 calls for ‘Industry’ and ‘Digital’ fields, the ‘Space’ 2026 call (HORIZON-CL4-2026-03) is structured into 8 topics with a total budget of €90.97 million.
