English Theatre of Rome collaborates with John Cabot University.

The English Theatre of Rome presents Reading Raymond Carver’s Short Stories at John Cabot University in Trastevere on select dates from 14-22 March 2026.

The staged readings, from Carver’s collection What We Talk about When We Talk about Love, celebrate the work of one of America’s most influential short story writers.

The English-language production is the latest collaboration between the English Theatre of Rome and John Cabot University’s interdisciplinary Italy Reads programme.

“With a style marked by precision, restraint, and emotional depth, Carver’s minimalist work transformed the landscape of contemporary fiction” – the English Theatre of Rome says – “And in keeping with our mission, the presentation serves to showcase five new director voices, offering fresh perspectives on these enduring works.

Directed by Leon Cascella, Tess Davis, Gaby Ford, Jade Pilzer, Tina Farmer and Rosie Hillesley, featuring: Roma Cervino, Juan Carlos Mendoza, Alice Coombes, Kenny Dunn, Bill Guion, Jonathan Hedley, Jim McManus, Jane Cordelia O’Farrell, Robert Peter Parker, Jade Pilzer, Eugenio Sas, Meli Tsabedze and Lisa Tucci.
