But how many clowns can it hold?

  1. Bit misleading, I can safely say the vast majority of the uk could give a fidlers fuck about the monarchy, think its a waste of money and would love to see it end.

  2. [I remember this article!](https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/tv-radio-web/harry-and-meghan-the-union-of-two-great-houses-the-windsors-and-the-celebrities-is-complete-1.4504502)

It was about Prince Harry and Megan leaving for America which normally I wouldn’t bother reading about but it was very funny writing. I loved the style so much I even went and bought yer man’s book “Ok, let’s do your stupid idea”, he’s brilliant if you’re into that sort of writing.

  3. Others have linked the full article and its worth continuing to read

*Beyond this, it’s the stuff of children’s stories. Having a queen as head of state is like having a pirate or a mermaid or Ewok as head of state. What’s the logic? Bees have queens, but the queen bee lays all of the eggs in the hive. The queen of the Britons has laid just four British eggs, and one of those is the sweatless creep Prince Andrew, so it’s hardly deserving of applause.*

*The contemporary royals have no real power. They serve entirely to enshrine classism in the British nonconstitution. They live in high luxury and low autonomy, cosplaying as their ancestors, and are the subject of constant psychosocial projection from people mourning the loss of empire. They’re basically a Rorschach test that the tabloids hold up in order to gauge what level of hysterical batshittery their readers are capable of at any moment in time.*

  4. Being Welsh – it’s like the clown lovers moved into your house, killed your father and is wearing their skin as a suit trying to be your father – but as a clown.

  5. I struggle to see the difference between the personality cult of the Windsors and the Kims of N Korea.

It’s a tough choice between the two, but at least Kim Jong-Un has hair

  6. All very innocent as an analogy, however the clowns are more like the clown from IT, inherently evil and they’ll do anything to retain power over others.

There’s a great satirical book called The Queen and I by Sue Townsend where the monarchy are booted out and the Queen ends up living in a council estate. It’s hilarious, and many wish it would happen. There are republicans in Britain who want it to happen.

  7. Damn, rent free… I was trying to think of an insult back but know nothing about you Irish… like most brits tbh
