A global leader in energy management and industrial automation, Schneider Electric recently held the grand opening for its new Canadian head office and EcoFit Centre in Milton.

The new headquarters, which relocated from Mississauga, consolidates multiple sites into a collaborative hub, designed to support research and development, software services, training and back-office operations. The location also becomes home to the newly relocated EcoFit Centre Canada, an advanced facility dedicated to modernization, circularity and extending the life of electrical infrastructure across the country.

“This new headquarters represents a significant investment in our people, our customers and Canada’s energy future,” said Emily Heitman, president of Schneider Electric Canada. “By bringing our teams together under one roof in Milton, we are strengthening our ability to innovate, collaborate and deliver sustainable, resilient solutions. The addition of our expanded EcoFit Centre reinforces our commitment to circularity and proudly Canadian manufacturing.”

The EcoFit Centre offers solutions and technical support across over 20 locations nationwide. The facility specializes in low- and medium-voltage modernization, switchgear and UPS retrofits, PLC and drives upgrades and circularity-focused services that extend the life of electrical assets.

According to a Schneider Electric spokesperson, the move was to consolidate the company’s Mississauga and Cambridge teams into one spot in order to innovate faster, better support customers across Canada, invest for long-term growth and to expand their local workforce as they hire for future roles.

The new, 400-employee facility totals 45,154 square feet, consisting of 19,698 square feet of office space and a 25,457 square foot warehouse.

“The space was designed with a people‑first, sustainability‑driven approach, reflecting how our teams work today,” said the spokesperson, outlining the following attributes:

Employee‑centred design: abundant natural light, ergonomic furnishings, wellness spaces, gender‑inclusive amenities, quiet zones, focus rooms and recharge areas.
Hybrid‑ready work environment: choice‑based spaces including collaboration zones, project rooms, touchdown areas and virtual‑ready meeting setups.
Technology‑rich collaboration: fully equipped digital meeting rooms and advanced AV and security systems.
Carbon‑neutral operations: WELL Building Standard. The project aligned strategies that enhance air quality, lighting, acoustics and material health, supported by Schneider’s own energy‑management technologies.
Innovation Hub: an immersive customer experience centre showcasing Schneider Electric’s digital, electrification, automation and sustainability solutions through hands‑on demonstrations and guided storytelling.

The project was designed by Ware Malcomb, JLL was the project management company and Torque the general contractor.

“This facility strengthens our local economy, supports job creation and reinforces Milton’s role as a hub for clean energy innovation. Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainability and Canadian-made solutions aligns with our community’s vision for long-term growth and prosperity,” said Town of Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz.
