Malta International Airport has unveiled its summer 2026 flight schedule, introducing new routes and increased frequencies to enhance the island’s connectivity.
The most notable addition is Delta Air Lines, becoming the first American airline to operate direct flights to Malta, linking the island with New York City via three weekly flights from June to October.
Northern Europe will also benefit from improved links. Norwegian is launching a new route to Billund in Denmark. Additionally, the airline will be increasing frequencies to Oslo and Helsinki over the summer months.
Ryanair will extend summer flights to Gothenburg in Sweden, while Air Baltic will increase flights between Malta and Tallinn from once to twice weekly.
Closer to home, Ryanair and Wizz Air continue expanding Mediterranean services with direct flights to Albania’s capital, Tirana.
In the UK, easyJet adds connections to Glasgow and Newcastle, and Jet2 introduces a new route to London Gatwick. The UK remains Malta’s second-largest market, with 18.1% of traffic in February, just behind Italy at 18.2%.
February saw 658,328 passengers pass through the airport, with a peak of 30,875 daily movements around Carnival and Valentine’s Day. Seat capacity rose 15.8% year-on-year to 806,540, with a seat load factor of 81.6%, up 1.1% from 2025.
“While the year has been off to a strong start and the new schedule offers improved connectivity and greater convenience, Malta International Airport continues to monitor geopolitical developments. The Traffic Development team is maintaining close communication with airlines, particularly those with scheduled flights to countries affected by the ongoing conflict,” wrote Malta International Airport in a statement.
