The Romanian Supreme Council for National Defense approved the temporary deployment of American forces and equipment on the country’s bases, including refueling aircraft and surveillance equipment and satellite communications systems, amid operations against Iran.
This was announced by Romanian President Nicușor Dan after the council’s meeting.
As part of the discussion, the situation in the Middle East and the actions of the United States and Israel against Iran were considered, as well as the potential impact of the events on Romania and the country’s economy.
«The third item of today’s discussion was the temporary deployment of U.S. military equipment and troops in Romania. As has already been publicly discussed, this concerns refueling aircraft as well as surveillance equipment and satellite communications systems… If Parliament approves this at the meeting, they will be deployed as part of the Romania–U.S. partnership»

It was also noted that the United States’ request to send new forces and equipment to Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base in Constanța County – one of NATO’s key military facilities in the region frequently used by American units – was discussed.
