When it comes to British icons, few names are more recognizable than Queen Elizabeth and Burberry. So it’s fitting that the heritage brand is collaborating with the Royal Collection Trust on a collection to mark the centenary of the Queen’s birth.

Each of the four pieces in the capsule, out today, was inspired by the late monarch, who would have turned 100 on April 21. A belted car coat crafted in in Castleford, Yorkshire from cotton gabardine nods to Queen Elizabeth’s favored style of outerwear, and its lining features a new colorway of Burberry’s iconic house check.

The holly green pattern, itself a reference to the Old Stewart Tartan, which was worn by the late British monarch, is also featured on a cashmere scarf, and on the border of a silk twill scarf printed with a hand-painted depiction of Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s beloved Scottish retreat.

Finally, a gold-plated brooch in the shape of a corgi wearing an enameled check coat is of course a tribute to the Queen’s beloved dogs, who have become British icons in their own right.

Per the brand, “Burberry was worn by Queen Elizabeth throughout her reign and was awarded a Royal Warrant in 1955. Synonymous with British style, the Queen often chose Burberry for outdoor pursuits – reflecting the brand’s commitment to protecting people from unpredictable weather. The new capsule draws inspiration from her iconic wardrobe, expressed through signature outerwear and Scottish‑woven cashmere.”

Notably, the collaboration is launching ahead of the largest-ever exhibition of Queen Elizabeth’s fashion, an exhibit aptly titled: Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, which will debut at Buckingham Palace in April. Among the roughly 200 items on display in the King’s Gallery at the royal residence will be Burberry designs worn by the late Queen including a hooded riding cape from around 2010, and a silk scarf from 2013, as well as an original invoice for a Burberry coat ordered in 1966.

The new capsule collection is only the latest partnership between Burberry and the British royal family. Last summer, the brand launched a collaboration with The King’s Foundation, and released a collection of accessories like hats and scarves, but also coats, dresses, and knit and tailored separates, all inspired by the King’s gardens at Highgrove House.

The new collaboration between Burberry and the Royal Collection Trust is available now at both Burberry.com and RoyalCollectionShop.co.uk. It’s also available in selected stores worldwide.
