The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has stated that refugee families, primarily citizens of Afghanistan living in Iran, have been affected by the current war and are facing serious challenges.

The organization reported on Thursday, March 12, 2026, that these families are leaving their areas due to increased insecurity and limited access to essential services, and they face high vulnerability in wartime conditions.

The organization also emphasized the urgent need to protect civilians, ensure access to humanitarian aid, and keep borders open for those seeking safety.

While citizens of Afghanistan have migrated to neighboring countries, including Iran, due to insecurity and difficult conditions, many of them are now facing serious problems in Iran as well.
