BKF announced it has acquired Lotus Water, a water resources and climate resilience engineering firm, to expand its capabilities for addressing complex water and infrastructure challenges.

The acquisition strengthens BKF’s water-focused services and broadens its capacity to support public agencies, utilities, and communities facing climate-driven water risks. Both organizations said the deal reflects a shared focus on building resilient infrastructure and sustainable water systems.

Lotus Water is known for its expertise in stormwater management, flood resilience, climate adaptation, green infrastructure, and integrated water systems planning. Its multidisciplinary team of civil engineers and urban planners has worked with public utilities, municipalities, private clients, and large urban infrastructure programs across the West Coast.

By integrating Lotus Water into its platform, BKF gains deeper technical expertise in water resilience while combining it with the firm’s broader capabilities in civil engineering, infrastructure development, and environmental planning.

The companies said the combined organization will focus on delivering resilient design solutions that help communities adapt to climate change, protect watersheds, and strengthen critical infrastructure.

The acquisition also expands BKF’s geographic reach and strengthens its presence in key markets across California and the Pacific Northwest. With the combined capabilities of both firms, BKF expects to pursue larger and more complex projects in the water resources sector.

Clients from both organizations will gain access to a broader suite of services, including advanced modeling, water policy development, nature-based infrastructure solutions, and integrated resilience planning. Lotus Water will continue operating as a standalone legal and operating entity within the BKF family of companies while contributing to BKF’s broader Water Resources practice.

Founded more than 110 years ago, BKF provides planning, engineering, surveying, and construction management services focused on transportation, water, development, and government markets across the western United States.

Lotus Water specializes in integrated water resources engineering and climate resilience planning, supporting public and private clients on complex infrastructure and environmental challenges across major cities along the West Coast of the United States and Canada.
