And thanks to a win against Czechia in their semifinal match on Friday, Team USA’s Paralympic sled hockey team is headed to the gold-medal game!

That means that the U.S. and Canadian sled hockey teams will be facing off in the gold-medal game for the third consecutive time in the Paralympic Winter Games.

With first-time Paralympians Kayden Beasley, Brett Bolton, Liam Cunningham, and Landon Uthke bringing the energy (all aged 18 or 19), the squad will look to Paralympic veterans like defender Josh Pauls for his expertise, who is the only sled hockey player to be a four-time Paralympic gold medalist.

The squad steamrolled through its preliminary round games by a combined score of 34-3. And the squad’s March 13 semifinal showdown with Czechia was more of the same, as Team USA cruised to a 6-1 victory that saw their defense give up only five shots on goal. (Team USA, in comparison, fired off an impressive 40 shots on goal.)
