SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A town hall will be held on the impact of data centers in Spartanburg.
State Representative Rosalyn Henderson-Myers will hold a community town hall on Saturday afternoon to discuss the growing impact of data center development on local communities, according to a release.
The release said the town hall will allow residents to learn more about proposed data center projects, ask questions and hear from experts about potential impacts on energy use, water resources and local infrastructure.
Alan Lee of Conservation Voters of South Carolina and Zakiya Mickle of the ACLU of South Carolina will also be at the meeting to provide insight into environmental considerations and community perspectives related to large-scale data center development, the release said.
Rep. Henderson-Myers said the event is intended to ensure residents have clear information and a chance to participate in a conversation about decisions that could shape the future of the community, according to the release.
“As technology companies continue to expand their infrastructure, it is important that our community understands both the opportunities and the challenges that come with data center development,” said Rep.Henderson-Myers. “This town hall is about transparency, education, and making sure local voices are heard.”
The town hall will be held at Dr. T. K. Gregg Community Center, on 6500 Howard Street, at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The community town hall is free and open to the public.
