Finally, something they can blame Sinn Féin for, and it definitely is their fault!

  1. You see, they just need to be re elected so they have more time to fix things. You can’t fix a housing crisis, crumbling health service, out of date infrastructure, stagnant wages and limp judicial system over night.

  2. Here comes the usual shite lads:

*Populists, low information voters, balaclavas, welfare scroungers, ne’er-do-wells, people with working-class accents, the homeless, Travellers, single mothers*, ad-fucking-nauseum…

Let’s get ready for the Fine Gael lads to wake up and wow us with their political acumen!

  3. Voting for the Shinners brings to mind the Germans voting for the Nazi party circa 1935.

When they’re not conducting indiscriminate bombing campaigns for the “cause” during the troubles.

They’re pulling off multi-miliion pound bank heists and beating “dealers” to death with iron bars – post-troubles.

Voting for the FF/FG axis of evil is also out of the question.

I usually either spoil my ballet or vote for whichever unemployed plumber gets himself on the ballot in my constituency.

  4. All their own fault really. In power for year upon year and complacency set in, also the fact they seem to drag their feet on issues that actually matter right now, housing and cost of living being the big ones.

  5. For all your bluster and talk, none of the comments here say that if they do well they’ll have to be in coalition. They’ll sell out in order to get into government. They’ll never win an outright majority. Who will they be in coalition with FG or FF?(unlikely FG)

    Otherwise they won’t ever govern.

It would be a diplomatic disaster to have the far right running Ireland, what progress.🙄 They should rid themselves of the racists and homophobes and stop pretending they’ll sort out everything in a five year term.

  6. Nah, this is still 100% on them. SF’s dominance in the polls seems a lot more about how much the public is sick of FFG than about how exciting SF’s offering is.

  7. Interesting, but I’d like to know more about the context.

How does this compare with other parties?

I’d have thought that 20% of seats being safe is high for every party except for Sinn Féin.

Also, what does in danger even mean? It’s not like 80% being in danger will mean they’ll lose 80% of their seats. In danger could mean a 25% chance of losing their seat for all we know. That would mean they’d lose 20% of their total seats.
