A graduate of the orchestra’s Karajan-Akademie, Lorenzo Massina has won the audition for the position of second flute and piccolo in the Berliner Philharmoniker. He is 23 years old, previously a student in Milan.
He still has to pass a probationary period, which in the Berlin flute section is not a foregone conclusion.
