Vice President JD Vance and CEO and Chair of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Erika Kirk will visit the University of Georgia Tuesday, April 14 as part of the “This is The Turning Point” Tour, according to the Turning Point chapter at UGA.
Vance confirmed the visit on X, writing that he was “excited to visit the University of Georgia next month for another Turning Point event in the SEC.”
TPUSA is a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative values to students by hosting various events at high school and university campuses.
UGA is the second school TPUSA will visit on their tour across the country, with George Washington University, Ohio State University, Baylor University and the University of Idaho being the other four currently listed as stops for the tour.
“Each stop is a chance to honor Charlie [Kirk]’s mission and keep the fight alive,” TPUSA’s website reads. “We know he wouldn’t want us to surrender or be coerced into silence. Free speech is only free if we use our voices.”
Conservative activist and commentator Charlie Kirk, the founder of TPUSA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University while speaking at an outdoor debate in September of 2025. Charlie Kirk is the late husband of Erika Kirk, who became CEO and Chair of TPUSA following his death.
A wave of controversy followed Charlie Kirk’s assassination, with people across the country facing severe consequences for posts some deemed as being celebratory of Kirk’s death.
The announcement of Vance and Erika Kirk’s visit led to mixed reactions from students on social media — particularly on Instagram and YikYak — with some people expressing excitement, while others expressed disappointment and anger at the event.
Charlie Kirk visited UGA on the “You’re Being Brainwashed” Tour right before the 2024 election, also drawing mixed reactions from students.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
