  1. A spokesperson later said Mr Khan had written to the acting Met commissioner “to seek a detailed explanation of the factors which were taken into account by investigating officers when decisions were made about whether to take action in individual cases in the Downing Street ‘Partygate’ investigation.

The spokesperson added: “He has asked them to take steps to also reassure Londoners by making this explanation to them directly, because he is concerned that the trust and confidence of Londoners in the police is being further eroded by this lack of clarity.”

“The mayor has been clear he cannot and would not intervene in operational decisions, however with the investigation now complete, he has made this request in accordance with the Policing Protocol Order 2011 paragraph 23(g).”

He’s doing what he can and I agree that we need an explanation for this stupid out com and decision from the police.

If this was you or me would have been screwed by the police

  2. So I suspect he didn’t tell the police anything (he was not interviewed under caution), did not fill out the questionnaire (again no reason he has to) and then there was not much hard evidence he was there.
I suspect the police didn’t have much evidence as he didn’t cooperate….

  3. Because they were told to not find him guilty over it. It is a deliberate attempt to limit the number of fines he receives, even though one is one too many for the man who set the restrictions in the first place.
