Telecommunications operator Telia and Brookfield have entered into a long-term strategic partnership to strengthen digital sovereignty in Sweden and Europe, while promoting the secure use of AI in the private and public sectors, according to a press release.
The collaboration builds on Brookfield’s previously announced plans to invest up to SEK 95 billion in AI infrastructure in Sweden. Telia’s systems integrator, Telia Cygate, will operate and deliver sovereign AI services on top of this infrastructure. Telia will also have exclusive rights to market and sell the project’s AI cloud services to corporate and public sector customers in Sweden.
“From healthcare, government agencies, and research institutions to the banking and energy sectors, key organizations will be able to use AI in their most critical processes, where the technology can create the greatest value, while sensitive data remains protected,” says Anders Olsson, CEO of Telia Sweden.
