The move was met with harsh criticism from Zelensky and other European leaders, with a spokesperson for Starmer saying “all partners should maintain pressure on Russia and its war chest.”

Meanwhile, Trump has somewhat dismissed Ukraine’s attempts to provide assistance amid the Iran war.

“We don’t need their [Ukraine’s] help in drone defense. We know more about drones than anybody,” Trump said last week. “We have the best drones in the world, actually.”

Zelensky, earlier on Tuesday, said he “would like the U.S. not to perceive Ukraine as a country that merely asks for help” and urged once more for a united approach.

“If we don’t come up with a quick solution, if we don’t join forces with our allies leveraging the technology and expertise that have emerged from the war, if there is no combat-capable security alliance, then war will ensue,” he said

“War comes when you are weak or alone. Enemies see when alliances are divided.”
