Moldova recently declared an environmental alert. After Russia struck the Dniester hydroelectric plant, hazardous substances entered the river.

Following this, Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador for a meeting and delivered a formal protest note. During the meeting, the ambassador was also shown samples of the polluted water from the Dniester.
