Traveling is one of the favorite pastimes of many Porto residents; but traveling through music is even more special. Amid glaciers and the Northern Lights, in September, the melodies of Sigur Rós promise to transport you directly to the icy landscapes of Iceland.
The famous post-rock band brings its transcendental music to the Coliseu Porto Ageas on September 13. However, this will not be the band’s only concert, as they will head straight to Lisbon for a show at Sagres Campo Pequeno on September 17, with the Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Ricercare Choir on stage.
A special tour
Sigur Rós will perform in Portugal as part of their latest international tour, which aims to celebrate “ÁTTA,” their latest album of original material released in 2023, as well as some of their most iconic songs.
In addition to Porto and Lisbon, the Icelandic band’s tour will visit Scotland, Ireland, France, Spain, and Germany, among other destinations. Tickets for the concert in Porto range from €40 to €140 and will be available for purchase at the usual outlets starting March 20.
Ethereal post-rock
Formed in 1994 in Reykjavík (Iceland), Sigur Rós redefined the boundaries of post-rock, establishing themselves as one of the world’s leading bands in the genre.
The band achieved international stardom with the album “Ágaetis byrjun” (1999), establishing a sound that blends classical minimalism with progressive rock.
