Would dear Ms. Gewessler mention the last time there was an accident in a nuclear powerplant in the EU?
Would dear Ms. Gewessler explain why Austria and the other 4 countries haven’t banned coal as fuel for electricity given how radioactive coal ash is?
Fucking dumbass Greens.
The new anti-vaxxers attack
I suggest she tries to turn Austria a bit greener first. But today, France emits 105g of CO2 per kWh, while Austria emits 270g CO2 / kWh. Not to mention that given its geography, Austria has a big hydro potential, so they should be able to do much much better. But they don’t.
Who’s polluting then ?
As a side note about the dangers of nuke, everyone should be conscious that every year in Europe, about 300 000 people die from air pollution. That’s more than Chernobyl and Fukushima combined. Every fucking year.
Not to mention that happily burning gas contributes to climate change, which will provoke even more deaths.
What’s up with Germans hating nuclear? Why are they so anti-science and backward?
Austria is right!
Nuclear is like a ticking bomb waiting for a major earthquake or human error to go off!
That’s without taking into account the longtime radioactive nuclear waste that nobody wants.
You cannot say that something is green when their trash must be taken care for thousands of years in which time tens of earthquakes could happen.
IMO, the only nuclear that might be called somewhat green is the one based on fusion instead of fission, but there’s none working today as far as I know.
What’s up Austria? Got bored in your basement?
Jeez, Austria is so backwards sometimes.
I guess we should all builds Alpes like Austrians and go hydro.
> Austria is at the centre of a five-country alliance bringing together Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg and Portugal, which seeks to prevent the inclusion of nuclear energy in the EU’s green finance rules.
You know, as a member of an EU country, I found really annoying that some of the backyard savages (Germany, Discount Germany, That city that shouldn’t even be a country in the first place and others) that also part of the EU don’t seem to realize, that they are part of a bigger union and regardless of their own opinions sometimes they need to get in the line. I mean, who let these barbarians in? We should hit them with sanctions after sanctions until they get to their senses.

Exclude nuclear from green energy. But then make the same rules for *yellow* energy.
Everyone will be happy. Problem solved.
Can we sue Austria over ecologic green washing?
Austrians politicians are a bunch of braindead idiots. Fuck me for living here.
Would Austrians please check where their energy comes from, that they buy from us.
“Green” parties are the worst thing to ever happen to the environment.
>Leonore Gewessler
>Green politician
Of course it’s another Green politician going all “nuclear BAD!”.
It’s almost as if you couldn’t let mere facts get in the way of a perfectly good ideology.
I am starting to hate this country more and more…
Unpopular opinion: nuclear is hated by greens because it holds the status quo and leads to other kinds of environmental devastation
Edit: I mean nuclear is part of the solution, but people think it is the solution. Even if we stop using coal tomorrow, we still need a lot of resources and industry that is in itself poluting. France and Japan have clean manufacturing because the bulk of pollution is being done in India and China. Using nuclear will keep the lights on, but throw the can further across the road. We need to act now in all departments in order to fix our planet
If nuclear power wont be included it’s a proof it is not about the climate but about money. The goal is to force Eastern and Central European countries to close their industry (as renevable energy surces are not viable for it) and run on russian gas provided by Germany via Nord Stream.
damn I am ashamed of my country sometimes. these people are so dumb -_-
Idiots
Nobody is prohibiting countries from building nuclear power plants. They just do not want that their EU contributions are being used to help finance nuclear power.
Any € invested in a nuclear power plant is going to possibly reduce emissions in 20+ years. After all it often takes that long to plan, get permission and build one.
Any € invested renewables is going to reduce emissions within a year or two.
This is why we can’t have nice things
Greens are stupid across all Europe. We have the same mentally backwards in France. Some people have explained it better than I ever could here, but nuclear is safer and kills less than the coal plants those anti nuke idiots prefer to rely on.
Why is our government this dumb sometimes?
omfg, of course I know it comes with each nuclear article, but still there’s so. many. shills. in here it’s really breathtaking.

[Austria is also asking for countries not using nuclear power to have less ambitious emissions targets than those that do.](https://twitter.com/ajjohnson100/status/1443839382369284126?s=21)
