There is a Russian band called Blankenberge, who were so impressed with the town that they named themselves after it

  1. My kneejerk reaction was: Where are they from that they are impressed by Blankenberge? Siberia?

I wonder how they pronounce it in Russian. Saint-Petersburg is a much nicer city than Blankenberge imo. Or did some band members come from Siberia? I tried to look up Barnaul but I can’t find the one in Siberia. Only in Altai Krai and in the Kurgan Oblast which aren’t even close to Siberia.

  2. > Blankenberge Blankenberge, wonderschone stad
Ik wou dat ik in m’n achtertuin zo’n Blankenberge had
Blankenberge Blankenberge, parel aan de kust
De mooiste plek op aarde voor wie zand met schelpjes lust

Are we sure Hugo Matthysen isn’t trolling us again?

  3. It’s a nice band. Gets posted to /r/MoscowBeat sometimes. Had a big discussion with one of the users there about Blankenberge, with how we see it versus how they see it lmao

  4. I have my doubts about the source, because even by Russian standards, Barnaul is not a “small city”.

  5. >”They decided to name their band Blankenberge, in honour of a little town on the North Sea coast of Belgium which had really impressed them.”

I guess that’s understandable when you’re from Siberia lmao

  6. Als Blankenberge blijkbaar het toppunt van hun reis was wil ik wel weten welke steden ze nog bezocht hebben.
