The district said Jared Baldizon was placed on administrative leave after the district learned of his arrest.

New York State Police say Baldizon was arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a child in 2024, while working as a teacher’s assistant and assistant coach at Broadalbin-Perth Central School District High School.

The district said student safety is a top priority and that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement.

The district acknowledges the distress such news can cause and encourages those with concerns to reach out to building principals or school counseling staff.

Baldizon was charged with Third Degree Rape and Third Degree Criminal Sexual Act. He was arraigned March 16 in Amsterdam City Court and pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court March 31.
