The total fish catch in Iceland for February 2026 exceeded 137,000 tonnes.
Of this, capelin accounted for nearly 86 thousand tonnes. Demersal landings increased by 6% year‑on‑year, while flatfish landings rose by 50%.
Between March 2025 and February 2026, the total catch reached 1,096,000 tonnes, an 11% increase compared with the same period a year earlier. Pelagic landings increased by 22% over the previous period, while flatfish landings fell by 13% and demersal landings declined by 1%.
