X-Energy Files for Nasdaq IPO Amid Nuclear Energy Expansion Push - News and Statistics

The nuclear reactor developer X-Energy has filed for an initial public offering in the United States. The company intends to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq exchange, though it has not provided details regarding the size or pricing of the share offering.

The filing occurs as the domestic nuclear sector experiences renewed activity following a prolonged period of limited growth. This resurgence is linked to increasing electricity needs from computing infrastructure and an objective to significantly expand nuclear energy production by the middle of the century. X-Energy is among a group of firms that have established supply agreements with major technology corporations and utility providers.

The company is working on over 11 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity through commercial collaborations in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Its development pipeline includes several new reactor designs intended to operate on a more enriched form of uranium, though these designs have not yet obtained the necessary regulatory approvals. Earlier this week, the company announced an agreement to deploy its small modular reactors in Pennsylvania and across the PJM power market in partnership with Talen Energy.

In 2025, the company raised $700 million to help finish reactor design and licensing in a funding round led by Amazon and another $700 million in a round led by trading company Jane Street. Several investment banks are serving as underwriters for the initial public offering.
