  1. Am I right in saying most of them were purely cargo railways that never had passenger trains? Basically became obsolete with trucks and roadways.

  2. Once the beet factory in Carlow closed because Fianna Fail “accidentally” used the wrong figures it was all over really. Wasn’t particularly efficient anyway and it would be nice to see electric bikes whirr up and down it ASAP.
