EDIT: THANK YOU, to every one of you. Ye have been very helpful. Took us a bit of time but we filled out the whole thing as much as she could recall. I also saved a screenshot of the list to save us a few minutes the next time we have to do this.
Well lads. My mom got a job in a nursing home and I’m doing her vetting form now… but they want every single address she ever lived at since her date of birth?! What?!
Like, she was born in fricking Communist Romania in the 1970’s. Lived in some small village in the middle of nowhere. Don’t even know if the house still exists, let alone if it has a postcode.
Then there are all the addresses she would have temporarily lived at when she was in her twenties, renting with friends, her sister, etc. Moved around a lot before having kids. Then she had kids, and I remember being young and moving apartments every few months. I remember us sleeping on someone’s couch for a while. Does shit like that count?
I’m trying to talk to her now, but she’s in her fifties and very forgetful. The woman barely knows what she had for breakfast, never mind remembering an apartment she lived in for 9 months in Hungary in 1994…
I haven’t a clue how to fill this thing out. [I watched this to guide me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjJxEfbyiQ8). Says if I can’t provide post codes for non-Irish addresses the online form will automatically reject them?

Friend of mine did one recently with 22 addresses so, yeah.
AFAIK it’s only places where you would have received post.
So a friends couch for a week wouldn’t count.
Honestly, it’s a pain but yes all addresses are needed
Yes, put as many addresses as she can remember. Keep a note of what you have written because she will also have to apply for police vetting in each country she has lived in and give a copy of that to the nursing home too. For example I lived in the UK before I moved to Ireland so I have to get vetting from UK and Ireland for any patient facing jobs.
You need them for reference purposes. It runs the name and addresses as they would’ve been put into the criminal records (PULSE identification system) to see if they have any record of criminal convictions or disturbances at addresses where you reside. They’re necessary, but once it’s done, its done.
For the one in Romania put the one she lives at the longest. They don’t check. Just put the main addresses.
I know it probably goes against the grain but drop into the local station and ask them what exactly they need. In my experience most guards are pretty sound if you’re asking for help..especially the community guards. I had to get clearance for my current job and they couldn’t have been nicer.
I did one recently. I put down anywhere I signed a lease or had utilities in my name.
I’d have difficulty even remembering some of my addressees!
My Mum also had a million addresses from France and couldn’t remember them all. She put in as many as she could and there was no issue
Make sure you have all that she remembers, at least one for each country. I don’t know how thorough they are though. Keep a record of what you wrote so that you can be sure to put the same addresses the next time she needs to do this (you generally only do it once per job but there will inevitably be a next time).
One piece of advice write down all the addresses ye put in as vetting only lasts a certain amount of years. I want to say 3? So there’s a chance she could be asked to get vetted again in a few years. Also if she changes job to a different company she’ll have to do it all over again.
Am I the only one who thinks you could save a lot of headaches and time by putting down less addresses
They aren’t going to call you out for being a little economical with the truth.
I’ve lived in the us and across Europe but put down 3-4 addresses top last time I filled out the form.
As long as you provide all foreign addresses with post codes and there are no gaps in years you have met the requirements.
Should I type that again?
