The Shannonside Northern Sound region has seen a surge in the number of properties receiveing the Accommodation Recognition Payment.
The figures come following a parliamentary question by Clare TD Joe Cooney to the Minister for Justice.
A tax-free payment of €600 per month, the ARP is given where someone hosts at least one person who arrived in Ireland under the EU Temporary Protection Directive.
The accommodation must meet required standards and be located in the Republic of Ireland.
As of February this year, there were 1,754 recipients across counties Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Cavan and Monaghan.
This an increase from 1,457 a year previously.
Leitrim records the highest figure locally, from 372 in 2025 to 471 in February 2026.
