On March 19, in the Lyman–Borivsky sector the enemy carried out the largest attempted breakthrough since the start of combat operations in this area. Forces of the Russian 1st Tank and 20th Combined Arms Armies attacked the positions of the Third Corps simultaneously on seven directions. The assault involved more than 500 infantrymen, 28 armored vehicles and over 100 motorized units — buggies and ATVs.

However, the enemy began to take losses even before reaching the line of contact. Over the course of four hours the units of the Third completely stopped the offensive: what was meant to be a rapid breakthrough turned into a major failure for the Russians.

Enemy equipment losses:

84 motorized vehicles;
11 IFVs and APCs
3 tanks.
A TOS “Sontsepyok” and 5 artillery pieces were hit.
Over 160 enemy UAVs were destroyed.

«For a month and a half we observed signs of preparation for an offensive. The Russians intensified strikes with KABs on our crossings over the Oskil, trying to cut off logistics. They began installing their own pontoon crossings and clearing routes of mines — this directly indicated preparations for a large-scale mechanized offensive.

We prepared: defensive actions were practised on different axes, and each brigade had its own plan to repel an attack. The corps coordinated these actions — and as a result the strikes were thwarted on all directions», — Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi.

Within a day the brigades and regiments of the corps destroyed 405 enemy servicemen: 288 were killed, the rest were wounded.

The Russian army failed to capture any settlements or positions. The destruction of the remaining personnel who managed to survive in the Third Corps’ kill zone continues.
