Poland is seeing a steady uptick in visitor numbers as travelers increasingly prioritize safety when choosing where to go, according to hotel sector insiders.

Data from Profitroom, a provider of direct booking solutions for hotels, shows holiday reservations across Poland are up more than 7% year-on-year so far in 2026. The upward trend is expected to continue into the peak summer season.

Momentum has been particularly strong in recent weeks. Profitroom reported that overnight bookings jumped by over 18% week-on-week during one week this month, with demand peaking for late July and early August departures.

Agata Pielacha-Janiec, regional director at Profitroom, told Polish state news agency PAP that global instability beyond Europe is playing a key role in shifting travel patterns. Destinations in the Middle East and parts of Asia are currently seen as less predictable, prompting many travelers to opt for locations perceived as more stable.

She noted that Poland is increasingly featuring in holiday planning, with not only more bookings being made but also earlier reservations and higher overall spend per trip.

The growth is being driven by both domestic and international demand. Polish travelers are opting to holiday closer to home, while inbound tourism is also on the rise. Germany remains the leading source market, with bookings from German visitors up nearly 7% year-on-year. Arrivals from the United States, Slovakia and Ukraine are also increasing.

Traditional hotspots along the Baltic coast and in the mountain regions continue to dominate. However, smaller destinations such as Nałęczów and Kazimierz Dolny in eastern Poland, along with the northeastern city of Białystok, are gaining traction with travelers looking for less crowded alternatives.

Elżbieta Lendo, president of Polish Independent Hotels, said the country is well positioned to compete globally, particularly at a time when safety is a key consideration.

She highlighted Poland’s strong offering of high-quality accommodation, spa and wellness facilities, and the reassurance of travel within Europe as major draws. For the local hotel sector, this shift represents a significant opportunity to showcase domestic holidays as an appealing and secure alternative to long-haul trips.

Las year was considered a historical year for tourism. In 2025, 58.9 million tourists stayed in Polish accommodation facilities—an 11.6% year-on-year increase. Foreign arrivals reached 15.2 million, up 13.1% year on year, making Poland one of the fastest growing destinations in the world and in Europe.
