Damascus, March 22 (SANA) The Syrian Arab Republic extended on Sunday its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye. The statement followed the death of six members of the Qatari Armed Forces and the Qatari-Turkish Joint Forces, alongside Turkish civilians, in a helicopter crash within Qatari territorial waters.
In an official statement, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed Syria’s full solidarity with the governments and peoples of Qatar and Türkiye during this painful ordeal. The Ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, noting that the crash occurred due to a technical failure during a routine mission.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense had announced earlier today that a military helicopter went down in the country’s territorial waters. While search and rescue operations were initially launched for the crew and passengers, authorities later confirmed the deaths of six individuals, with search efforts continuing for one missing person.
