Wonder what this law will do about other shenanigans? Let’s say Apple makes a USB C charger, to go with their new USB C equipped devices… and ONLY the Apple OEM charger will “fast charge” the device.
Generic USB C chargers may work, but slowly (or not at all, depending on how ballsy Apple is feeling).
Not that hard to do.. USB has data lines that could be used for such a purpose.
And Apple will claim safety reasons or some other bullshit to make it sound reasonable.

…will be in some UK tabloid next to an ad for the next iPhone with USB-C.
Makes sense since companies will just adapt to follow EU regulation and we won’t have to lift a finger to make them change anything since businesses will change their chargers to keep access to the EU market.
You could probably take this headline and replace ‘UK’ with Albania, Turkey, etc. (European country outside the Single Market).
