‘We’re in the midst of a crisis’: Dublin revellers warned of taxi shortage over bank holiday

  1. Aahh remember when taxi drivers were constantly moaning that there were too many taxis in Dublin?

    Those were the days

  2. Hard to have any sympathy for Dublin taxi drivers at times. Even on quiet nights it’s impossible to get one as a single guy. Free taxis tend to turn off the light and drive right on by. Also had some attitude from a few who have stopped for ‘only’ going ten minutes down the road.

  3. A driver told us last week that the issue is that a lot of them won’t work town cos the hassle of it with the one way streets and the messy drunks, so they’d rather do the suburbs than come in.

We walked from town almost to fairview before we could get one to take us.

  4. THIS is a crisis….?Think some people need to experience a REAL crisis to be honest – this is just an minor inconvenience.

  5. We’ve plenty of taxis. The issue is the number of night busses and the luas and dublinbikes stopping at 12:30,

  6. If the government hadn’t squeezed and suffocated the taxi owners and drivers out of business there would be no shortage.
