BERLIN — Grassroots Berlin is inviting residents to participate in a community discussion on voting and civic participation at an upcoming seminar.
“We want to help people better understand the real power of their vote,” said Cornel Boudria of Grassroots Berlin.
The free event, titled “Community Power in Action,” is scheduled for Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Berlin Community Center on Kensington Road. Organizers say the seminar will focus on voter participation and the factors that influence why and how people participate in elections.
The program will be led by Dang Do and a research team from Trinity College as part of Hartford’s Voter Captain’s Project. The initiative aims to increase civic engagement and expand participation in both local and national elections.
Organizers said the seminar is designed to help residents better understand how their involvement can impact their communities. The seminar is open to people of all backgrounds and levels of experience with civic engagement.
“This event is about more than information — it’s about empowering individuals to recognize that their voice matters and that their participation can directly shape the future of their community,” Boudria said.
During the session, attendees will learn about voting trends, barriers to participation and ways to become more involved in civic life. The event will also offer practical steps that people can take to engage in the democratic process.
Grassroots Berlin is a local organization focused on community engagement and advocacy. The group regularly hosts events and programs to connect residents with opportunities to learn, share ideas, and take action on issues affecting their town.
The event is free and open to the public.
