I have an interest in psychology and came across a video the other day (link below). I watched it, thought about it and after a while my mind started to link it with some posts I’ve seen on here.

Posts ranging from how unsafe Dublin has become, young people for some reason acting more anti social than seems in comparison to the past and people writing about their mental health being in not very good condition.

The video shows how differently children behave due to being raised in a safe loving environment and those who were neglected. For the ones unloved, and with no intervention, their life is going to take a different path, their development will not be the same as those who are loved. I just wonder does this at all explain some of the posts I see on here, how some people become anti social or others who feel they’re losing their way in life.

  1. If you’re interested you should look into the research on adverse childhood experiences or Aces it’s a massive issue for every society and receives minimal funding even though funding into childhood mental wellbeing and health brings massive benefits longer term

  2. It is absolutely a massive factor. This will be a controversial take but I do believe that parenting standards in Ireland are quite low, even in families where the kids have better outcomes. I think even if it doesn’t manifest in antisocial behaviour, so many Irish people grow up with neglectful, controlling or narcissistic parents and it has long term negative effects on their mental health.
