    Those enforcement officers are wasted on gold panning enforcement.

    “Hey mate, I’m an enforcement officer. Are you panning for gold?”

    “Of course not”

    “That’s a shame. I was wondering how you pan for gold”

    “No problem, I’ll show you”

    “Magic! Mind if I film it?”

    “Course not”

    Sounds like the man is quite literally as dumb as a box of rocks.

  2. Why is panning specifically illegal? I doubt people would be making fat stacks.

    Is it to deter people making a mess of the area or ruining the river?

  3. Feels like this isn’t something the authorities should be wasting time enforcing, if your house get’s burgled it’s a 3 week wait for them to send you a crime reference number & wish you the best of luck yet we have people actively trying to stop people from panning for <£20s worth of gold?
