Ireland’s strategy: if drugs are illegal people can’t get them or die from them.
I’m with you, legalizing drugs would solve more problems than them being illegal does.
But then what would the Gardaí do? They’d have to fight proper crime.
And what about the Irish media? They’d be bored without all the moralising and daily headline like: “Gardaí find [insert unrealistic €value] of [insert drug name] in cancer patient’s handbag”.
– take a half to feel the effects
– wait
– man, nothings happening, gonna take another full one
– off to space mountain
i was part of a peer education program (external brought into the school by a teacher) when i was in school and this was the exact idea – 6th year students would learn about drugs, their effects and how to take them respectfully and would teach about it to 1st years. the school cancelled the program and only did it once due to negative feedback from parents. it went really well with the first years, and even we learned a lot about drugs and were able to make actual educated decisions later in life – but ofc older people were against it. country can lack progression so much sometimes but this was 10 years ago or so now, if we did it then properly we would have been well ahead of the curve. it affected my life and decisions positively, and i would support it being done more.
Testing is a big thing here. I know they had it in the UK (not sure if we had it here) but at festivals, you could get your pills/powder tested and they’d let you know what was in it and advise if it was safe etc. all without risk of prosecution. The bottom line here is people are going to take drugs, so let’s make it as safe as possible so that they can do it in a controlled manner.
Overdosing on alcohol? I’m ringing 999 the next time my mate is manky drunk, I can spot the symptoms
The GHB one is a bit irresponsible. It’s really hard to dose it properly and so easy to overdose on it
Anto **did not die** when he went on a meth bender.
He’s in ICU after scratching his skin off thinking he was covered in bugs but he **did not die**.
I won’t lie, I’m not comfortable with people taking heroin or cocaine. I know it’s hypocritical considering I want cannabis legalised, it’s my own prejudice against “hard” drugs.
That being said, I can’t police people’s choices, and I know many will try regardless, so they might as well do it as safely as they can, given the drugs they’re trying. I still think drug use should be discouraged the same way smoking is, while at the same time being legal, the way smoking is
Do drugs but make sure there’s safe drugs? I don’t know if I agree. They’re life destroying substances.
I’ve been saying for years to have have ads on tv that tell you to wait at least an hour after taking a pill/mdma. You see so many people taking like 3 or 4 as they don’t feel effects instantly and inevitably OD
So GHB bloke abstained from alcohol when trying it. That is absolute bollocks and would never happen in the real world. They are all way too clean cut and good looking. John does not look like a heroin user, sorry. And why is it in English and they all have Anglo names in a Norwegian campaign poster?
Does Norway run its public heath through English?
_”But what about the cannabis overdose poster?_

I have a feeling a lot of you just want to move to Norway.
You know how during the abortion referendum campaign the No side kept insisting that people would be looking to get up to birth abortions normalised if the referendum passed and we laughed at how stupid that was. That’s the heroin poster in this group.
Those bloody Nordics and their evidence-based, harm-reduction-oriented policies! Making the rest of us look bad for decades now!
My Ma spends most of the summer in Norway most years and I can tell you it’s a hellhole and a haven for cheerful, polite, healthy people and unblemished natural beauty. Who wants anything to do with that?
Sarah did not die from taking MDMA. She just became a completely unbearable cunt for 3 hours and cried for two days there after.
John **did not die** when he overdosed on heroin.
He is no longer capable of feeling happiness.
Imo , if Alcohol was just starting out or just invented it would be a Class “A” drug , no sweat about it , it would be banned , causes more deaths and people just turn in to nasty animals. I know other drugs are lethal but seriously it’s grim . I stopped a year ago after watching my Dad die horrendously and that’s after he was sober for 6 years , but unfortunately the damage was done
I dunno. I don’t like the look of Thomas. I wouldn’t trust him with the GHB.
Drugs shouldn’t be encouraged though, just cause Sophie had a great time on lsd doesn’t mean all the people who’ve had permanent bad trips are irrelevant
>Symptoms of an alcohol overdose can include:
changes in mental state, including confusion,
vomiting
FFS You’d be on the phone all night
You can also not die by not being a junkie looking to get an artificial high from illegal/should be illegal drugs, which is the easiest and cheapest solution which anybody can do with ease.

If you’re doing heroin do it with friends 🙂
