The Latvian National Armed Forces said that a drone that had crashed in the Kraslava region of Latvia in the early hours of Wednesday, March 25, was found to be of Ukrainian origin.
Images here, released by Latvia’s military, show parts of the drone.
The Latvian government initially said that the drone had entered Latvian airspace from Russia, and that early warning systems had detected a sound similar to an explosion in the Kraslava region.

It also said that the drone crash didn’t cause any injuries or damage to civilian infrastructure.
Latvian news reports said that possibly the Ukrainian drone was meant to hit Russian targets in the Gulf of Finland and had strayed off course.
A similar incident happened on March 25 in Estonia, where a drone struck a power station chimney.
The Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal wrote on X that the drone incident reflected “the spillover of Russia’s war against Ukraine, now in its fifth year.”
“This drone was not directed at us. There were no casualties,” he added. Credit: Latvian National Armed Forces via Storyful
