When King Leopold II of Belgium acquired the “Congo Free State” in 1885, it was 76 times the size of Belgium. He claimed the land at the 1884-1885 Berlin conference promising to improve the lives of the locals but ended up enslaving them to gather ivory and natural rubber.

  1. Well in less than 2 generations there were roads, railroads, schools, hospitals etc.

People were still living in the stone age.

If you see how people were treated in belgium at that time. What can you expect what they would do to people halfway around the world.
