“Enslaving them” doesn’t quite do justice to what was done to them.
Well in less than 2 generations there were roads, railroads, schools, hospitals etc.
People were still living in the stone age.
If you see how people were treated in belgium at that time. What can you expect what they would do to people halfway around the world.
