Prince William knew that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor would hurt the monarchy.

Before the former Duke of York was stripped of his title, evicted from Royal Lodge and later arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, his nephew reportedly didn’t feel King Charles III and Queen Elizabeth II did enough to admonish his bad behavior.

“Certainly, he [William] made his voice known that Andrew should have no place within the monarchy, both publicly and privately. He should be banished from the institution,” author Russell Myers, who wrote the book William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era, said during an appearance on Newsweek‘s “The Royal Report” podcast.

“He [Andrew] should have no role within the family because he would be a stain on it,” the expert continued. “And certainly, if they were going to keep him close, as the late Queen and indeed Charles did for a couple of years in his reign, that was going to be a major problem.”

In Myers’ tell-all, he claimed the 43-year-old was unsure of Andrew’s role within The Firm long before his public scandals.

“[William] always thought his uncle was a bit of an ignoramus. He would question ‘what does he actually do?’, but it was more than that,” a source quoted in the book told the author.

“He’d seen how Andrew behaved in front of staff, ordering people about, the aggressive or dismissive manner, they’d never seen eye to eye,” they added.

Despite the 66-year-old and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, harming the royal family’s image over their connection to Jeffrey Epstein, William reportedly doesn’t put any blame on their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

“William has a relationship with his cousins [Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie] so he takes no umbrage with them, but there’s no love lost for Andrew or Sarah,” the insider told Myers.

Following Andrew’s arrest, His Majesty released a statement about the situation. “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” he said in a statement via the BBC.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” the 77-year-old continued.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” Charles concluded.

According to a source, the former Prince of Wales has barred his younger brother from leaving his new property in Sandringham.

“Effectively, Andrew is now under house arrest and will remain so for the rest of his life, as, in exchange, his brother [Charles] will fund his comfortable lifestyle,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “The king is determined to prevent the situation from becoming a constant media spectacle centered on Andrew’s movements.”
