Easyjet has issued a warning for Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt holidaymakers. The chief of the airline, which is rivalled by Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI, has spoken out as the crisis in the Middle East and Gulf states continues.
Kenton Jarvis said forward bookings for summer had started to slow. Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt have been hit by the biggest drop in bookings, Jarvis said.
He said: “We have seen a drop in bookings. If it’s the same as the Ukraine crisis or after the Hamas attacks on Israel, that tends to lasts about six weeks, until, terrible though it is, the news is off the front pages.”

The warning comes in the week Easyjet launched its Big Seat Release, with over 12 million seats between 1st February and 21st March 2027 now on sale including over February half term.
Kevin Doyle, UK Country Manager for easyJet, said: “Putting millions more seats and package holidays on sale today for next winter means our customers across the UK can book early and enjoy great value to Europe’s most popular leisure destinations, including firm favourites such as Amsterdam, Paris, Alicante, Tenerife, and Malaga.
“With hundreds of routes available from 22 UK airports, our short-haul network offers unrivalled choice for those planning their holidays for next year, to book with ease, and we can’t wait to welcome them on board.”
In the Middle East, the crisis between Iran, Israel and the United States of America is continuing.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said that they had turned back three ships trying to transit the strait of Hormuz, adding the route was closed to vessels travelling to and from ports linked to its “enemies”.
“This morning, following the lies of the corrupt US president claiming that the strait of Hormuz was open, three container ships of different nationalities… were turned back after a warning from the IRGC Navy,” the Guards said on their Sepah News website.
“The movement of any vessel ‘to and from’ ports of origin belonging to allies and supporters of the Zionist-American enemies, to any destination and through any corridor, is prohibited,” it added.
