Ruth Davidson: Tory MPs should get rid of Boris Johnson’s rotten regime — right now

  1. Ruth Davidson, Tory peer and ex-leader of Scottish Tories, calls time on the Johnson Junta:

    > Imagine, for a moment, being a cleaner at Number 10 Downing Street. Imagine coming into your work to clean up empty bottles from the tables and scrub red wine off the walls. And imagine being expected to do that the very same month the Prime Minister, whose staff were having multiple boozy shindigs, was telling you and everyone else in the country that they couldn’t be with their families that Christmas.

    > Imagine, on other days, being treated poorly by the very same people who were boozing, or singing karaoke, or fighting, or breaking garden furniture as the rest of the country stuck to the rules – and then being expected to clean up the vomit that had been left behind . . .

    > I thought there was nothing that yesterday’s report could say that would shock me. Nothing that could make an already shameful situation, worse. But I was wrong.

    > Seeing in black and white senior advisors and officials joke about having “got away with” boozy dos shows they knew what they were doing was wrong and did it anyway. To read Number 10’s ethics adviser decided the best way to get the party started was to bring along her own karaoke machine calls into question the ethical compass of the government as a whole.

So why don’t you just quit the party that won’t let go of him, Ruth?

  2. It’s the Tories – including ‘swivel with the wind’ Ruth Davidson that are rotten to the core. The whole lot need emptied not just Johnson.

Of course Baroness Davidson of Lundin Links excluded herslf from being emptied by The People by accepting a Baroness-ship from Johnson so she can sit in the unelected House of Lords for the rest of her life.

  3. Unelected Baroness who accepted a life-long peerage from… *checks notes* Boris Johnson, only really speaks up when she can’t be chucked out of the Lords.

And by speak up, I don’t mean anything radical like quitting the corrupt party she happily represents. Oh no, just fluff pieces in the British media to try and polish her own personal image.

She was out campaigning for Douglas Ross and Boris Johnson in the Scottish elections this year, it’s embarrassing people in the electorate zip up the back as easily as they do.

  4. Shame she never stood up against the Tories and was more than happy to accept her seat in the HOL until her seat and power is now safe.

It’s not just Boris it’s the entire Tory party and all their inhumane policies

  5. Baroness Ruth “These are my principals. If you don’t like them, I have others” Davidson. What a fucking hypocrite. She accepted the peerage from Boris in exchange for her support when she already knew of his corruption. She can get into the sea right beside him, as far as I’m concerned. Scottish politics is in a better place for her having fucked-off.

  6. No they shouldn’t. They should keep him in place for the next election! That way an opposition party might have a fighting chance of being elected.

Ruth Davidson’s only thinking of what benefits her precious Conservative Party.

  7. They’d have to purge the entire front bench to enact regime change, and even then, they’d still be Tories.

  8. That would require shifting most of the party then. Johnson is the leader but there are plenty of MPs and members who are happy to do as he does and support their peers when scandals come to light. You might as well burn the party down and start again.

  9. Ruth has a track record of distancing herself from and criticizing her fellow Tories in the south whilst preaching the exact same doctrine and preaching a politics that hurts the same people. The Scottish Tories keep trying to seem different but they are just the same wolfs in sheep’s clothing.

  10. The state of these comments. What do you all want from Ruth Davidson?

I thought we wanted Tories to come forward and say they can’t support Boris because of his parties. Yet when Ruth Davidson does it, you all accuse her of being a self-serving bitch who has turned on the PM who gave her a peerage.

Is she supposed to support Boris whatever leaks out about him then (heartless), or is she supposed to voice her genuine disapproval (disloyal)? A lot of people just taking thread as an excuse for Tory-bashing and misogyny.

  11. The UK needs a conservative like Ruth to lead the country and wipe the party clean of its Brexit-Trumpian influences.

Unfortunately we live in the timeline where the idea of that happening is laughable.

  12. Oh do STFU. I agree with Nationalists here that this snake took honours from Boris and now wants him gone.

    Girl bye.

  13. Getting rid of his regime would mean removing everyone. The tories and corruption isnt something new thats only.popped up with boris, he just doesnt help it stay hidden because and and the party care so little about the plebs now.

  14. The thing that melts my head is that they will still have a Tory PM, so the thing stopping them is the power Boris and his chums have over the party.

A bit like in the USA where the republican party is now mostly just a trump cult, the Tory party shed it’s non fanatical members after brexit.

I know some of my older Tory family love Boris to the moon for brexit and that won’t shift, is that how it is in the party though?

Getting rid would give them a poll reset and ensure his reign of chaos is over. It wasn’t just the COVID parties, the guy was having scandals non stop.
