A couple of friends and I will be traveling from Lisbon down to the Algarve in a few weeks’ time and we’re looking to take a train. I’ve looked on the [cp.pt](https://cp.pt) website and can’t find any information about the amount of luggage you can bring. We’ll likely be either taking an Intercidades or Alfa Pendular train, and we’ll each have a backpack and one small suitcase each- with the exception of myself who will have a backpack, a small suitcase, and a large suitcase as well.

Will I be allowed to bring on the large suitcase as well or do I need to pay an extra fee?

  1. Some Angolan dude took what seemed like a whole car in parts in an Alfa a few weeks ago.

Nobody cared. Plenty of space aboard the train.

  2. In the Alfa I have never seen a lack of space for luggage. There’s plenty for large luggage (which of course also fits smaller luggage), and there is overhead space to put the smaller items/backpacks. In Intercidades I have sometimes seen lack of space for large luggage (at the beginning/end of the carriage), but usually you are fine. If it doesn’t fit in your carriage you can always put in the next, it will probably also fit in the overhead space.

    There is no limit.

TL; DR: You’re gonna be fine.
