Based on the reports it’s going to be “up to” £400 off energy bills, and they’re going to scrap the loan idea.
Diverting from one example of incompetence to another, the economy.
Cynically holding on to a good news policy announcement until the day after Gray delivered her report is so in line with this government’s values – minimising their own suffering and letting everyone else worry.
These 400 squids aren’t means-tested?
Is this crisis not something that the labor party would immediately deal with?
“Fuck you” – Boris Johnson. Probably.
Do they plan on giving another 5p off fuel or another not a loan energy loan that will just make people worse off for years to come.
“Please stop talking about me being an incompetent lying twat and I’ll give you some cash.
‘Course it’s your cash anyway but you’re so stupid you’ll never figure that out!
Cheers and tally ho!”
Corrupt liar
£400 discount on a £800 increase. This is another dead cat, the same way as with the fuel duty.
They’re scrambling and struggling for ideas to save Big Dog at this point.
I wonder how much the “windfall tax” will be.
5 quid?
“look, you bunch of proles, I’ll give you 400 quid If you stop whining on and on a about how your dad died in hospital on his own while we were having a piss up”
There’ll be a strap line from them that if it wasn’t for all this partygate nonsense they’d have gotten to CoL a lot sooner & blame Starmer for stirring up non-stories.
Most people in this country have less than £500 savings available to them.
The energy increase over the whole year is supposed to be (per Ofgem) £1500 – the £400 does fuck all outside of Rishi getting a month off heating discount in one of his 12 manors.
Funny, when people wanted him to talk about the cost of living crisis, he made some weird snarky tangent about trans people.
Almost like the extent of his interest in this issue is self-serving
The world’s biggest corporations have been riding a three-decade wave of profit growth, market expansion, and declining costs.
Corporate **Profits** in the United Kingdom averaged 42,954.85 GBP Million from 1955 until 2022, reaching an **all time high** of 139,210 GBP Million in the first quarter of 2022 and a record low of 931 GBP Million in the first quarter of 1955.
How will this impact inflation? I can’t see giving everyone this money is going to help long term? It seems like a short term fix which makes things worse later on?
What response?
I mean… good? lol “Prime Minister does his job”
Yeah I’ll bet lol
Dead cat alert! Dead cat alert!!
But Energy company still made 7bn profit, so why did out GOV let them raise the cap ffs, because they all got hands in the company and shares thats why, corrupt fuckers, dont raise the cap lower it, get these wankers out of our GOV asap
Another point that they don’t run the country for the masses but for themselves. Johnson and most of the Tories have pulled British politics down to gutter levels.
Creating problems so they can go back and fix them as a distraction later.
Classic.
And will be insulting to everyone.
For the past few months the entire British government has been concentrating on saving the hide of objectively the most incompetent Prime Minister in living memory. This is really dangerous authoritarian stuff, any decent politician would have put his hands up and resigned weeks ago, most likely the moment the story broke.
The sad takeaway from this is that they always had the option to help Average Joes like us more, but they only chose to do it when it helped them deflect from their disgusting, law-breaking shenanigans. Zero sympathy or respect for these fat cats.
This is our system. People get thrown a bone when the bastards at the top need a distraction. We can do better than Tories.
Does anyone think he regrets being the PM?
Perhaps they could throw the plebs a small bribe – perhaps framed as an energy bill discount?
Sorry, what’s that – they have just done this? Who would have thought?
It’s fucking sickening that the Tories will only act on anything when they want to deflect shit from their direction.
Lol Boris stops wasting time with peasants complaining about his Christmas party last year and is now trying to save the country.
What a joke of a leader
I feel really unsettled by this crap, like it’s so obviously manipulation that I feel “dirty”. Being paid off to forgive his chaos is not how we do things in this country, I feel like it’s a turning point, we have to not buckle to this bribe.
It’s mainly targeted at his core base, the retired bloc who love him to the moon. Are they really so morally bankrupt that they come back in line for a bung?
The money has handy but let’s be real, if my fuel bill goes up to £233 a month as it’s the average, £400 won’t make much difference in the long term, it’s just short of two months.
It’s not exactly modified my view that im doomed, especially as there is no end in sight for the crazy rises in literally everything.
