Latvia’s Defense Ministry said on Friday that Russia is conducting a large-scale coordinated information operation against Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

According to Riga, Moscow accuses the Baltic states of allowing the use of their territory for Ukrainian attacks against Russia. The ministry has firmly denied these accusations, claiming that these countries do not participate in the planning or execution of Ukrainian counterattacks.

Baltic authorities support Ukraine by providing military, humanitarian and financial assistance, while reiterating its “legitimate right to defend itself” against Russian invasion.

The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that these accusations are intended to distract attention from the difficulties Russia faces in the face of Ukrainian attacks against its infrastructure, especially along the Baltic Sea coast.

Riga also claims that this influence campaign aims to discredit NATO, divide Baltic societies, and undermine trust in public institutions and support for Ukraine.

According to the ministry, these operations rely in particular on the spread of disinformation and the use of bots on social networks, targeting Russian-speaking populations and young people in particular.
