>Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday that his country hopes to increase defense cooperation with NATO ally Spain through the purchase of a second aircraft carrier and possibly a submarine.

>“The first aircraft carrier was not a large-scale one. We have agreed on the construction of a large scale (carrier),” Erdogan said at a joint news conference with visiting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

>“There is so much we can do in the defense industry, including [concerning] armed and unarmed unmanned aerial vehicles,” Erdogan said without elaborating.

It is not only sale. It will be a joint production. Turkish aircraft carrier made by both Spain and Turkey. It is almost finished and estimated to finish March 2022. This news also indicates that Turkey will not buy a submarine from Russia but also Turkey no longer see Germany as a reliable partner because of current submarine crisis. Turkish experts have stated that Turkey will have it’s 4 submarines which is in production but new German goverment will not allow other 4 submarine’s construction.
A new age for both Spain and Turkes is on the horizon. Taking peace dealer between Turkey and EU role from Germany will strenght Spain’s voice in EU. Also a new partner such as Turkey, who has more diplomatic power in North Africa, is another plus for Spain.
