Prizes: designers shortlisted for step 2, who submit a final proposal in accordance with the competition brief, will each receive £30,000 (excluding VAT) after the competition ends. The winning proposal will receive a further £60,000 (excluding VAT)

Competition overview
Designers are invited to submit development plans for the Kársnes Waterfront in Iceland.
Proposals should outline a vision for a mixed-use waterfront district that stands alongside Sky Lagoon, protecting its character whilst also creating a new experience.
Proposals will be assessed on the extent to which they respond to the client’s vision and convincingly address the competition task.
The evaluation will focus on the quality of the overall concept, the spatial strategy and the development logic demonstrated in the submission.
The client intends to appoint the winner as long term development partner, and to enter into contract with the winning team for continued work.
Should an agreement not be reached, the client may engage another party. Proposals may be used in part or entirely, always with full respect for the author’s rights under the copyright act number 73/1972.
Proposals should be submitted by 17 April
Eligibility and judging criteria
Qualified teams are open to apply.
Teams must demonstrate interdisciplinary capacity to address the scope of the competition.

Step 1 submission (expressions of interest) is 17 April, while the shortlisting announcement is 27 April.
The step 2 final submission is on 30 September, and the jury will decide the competition results on 16 October.
