Islam Times – Spain has barred US military aircraft involved in strikes on Iran from using its airspace, expanding earlier restrictions on access to jointly operated bases, Defence Minister Margarita Robles said on Monday.“We don’t authorise either the use of military bases or the use of airspace for actions related to the war in Iran,” she told reporters in Madrid.
The move forces US military aircraft to reroute although emergency flights remain exempt.
Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo said the decision reflects Spain’s refusal to back a war launched unilaterally and “against international law”.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has repeatedly criticised the US-Israeli war while Trump has threatened trade retaliation.
