ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) -St. Charles County Council unanimously passed a resolution to partner with Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) during Monday night’s council meeting.
The partnership is part of Section 287(g) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. This partnership would train some St. Charles County officers in federal immigration training.
The county will not receive monetary gain from the agreement. During the meeting, county officials reiterated that immigration searches would be at the officer’s discretion.
After several county citizens spoke against the agreement, the matter passed unanimously.
Members in the crowd voiced their support and refusal to the vote.
While some audience members chanted “U.S.A.”, others yelled the names of Alex Pretti and Nicole Renee Good.
